Properties of Alpha Olefins
Olefins is the common umbrella term used in the petrochemical industry for acyclic and cyclic hydrocarbons with one or more carbon-carbon double bonds, excluding aromatic compounds. These include alkenes, cycloalkenes, and polyenes. AlphaPlus® NAO are characterized by high purity and cover a wide range of chain lengths from C4 to C30+.
Applications of Alpha Olefins
Alpha-olefins as comonomers: Thanks to their reactive terminal double bonds, AlphaPlus® NAO are ideally suited as comonomers for polyethylene production.
Alpha olefins in lubricants and additives: Alpha olefins and their derivatives serve as feedstocks for synthetic motor oils, lubricants, and automotive additives.
Alpha Olefins in Other Applications: In addition, alpha olefins are used in the production of plasticizers, surfactants, and paper products, as well as in numerous specialty applications.
