Dibasicester / DBE

Properties of Dibasister (DBE)

Dibasister (DBE) is a mixture of dimethyl adipate, dimethyl glutarate, and dimethyl succinate. The colorless, clear liquid has a mild, pleasant odor. DBE is characterized by high solubility, a high flash point, and very low volatility, and poses a low risk to humans and the environment. DBE is highly soluble in alcohols, ketones, ethers, and most hydrocarbons, but only slightly soluble in water and higher paraffinic hydrocarbons. DBE is exempt from labeling requirements under the Hazardous Substances Ordinance and transport regulations.

Applications of Dibasister (DBE)

Thanks to its broad range of applications, DBE is a versatile and environmentally friendly alternative to solvents requiring labeling, such as methylene chloride and acetone. DBE is used as a solvent in paints and varnishes, cleaners, and mold release agents.

DBE is also used as an intermediate product in the manufacture of PU foams and plasticizers.
